Nationwide blackout, rallies and clashes in Venezuela

On March 9, Venezuelan opposition protesters clashed with police at the site of a planned rally where Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido planned to appear. The protesters pushed against police in riot gear. The Socialist Party also called for mass demonstrations on the same day to protest U.S. imperialism. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said on Saturday that the country was the victim of yet another cybernetic attack on the national electrical system. Communications Minister Jorge Rodriguez said that Venezuela was suffering from “technical and cybernetic sabotage” at the nation’s central hydroelectric plant.
