Japanese PM opens new session of parliament

Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has delivered his annual policy speech marking the opening of this year’s parliamentary session. Abe apologized for the recent revelations that the labor ministry’s monthly survey of wages and working hours had been flawed for years. Ruling and opposition parties are expected to hold debates on issues including false labor surveys that underpaid insurance benefits to millions of people. Abe also paid tribute to Emperor Akihito, who is set to abdicate at the end of April.
