Hungary rejects U.S. threat over use of Huawei equipment

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has warned Hungary not to deploy equipment provided by Chinese telecom giant Huawei on their soil. He claimed that the use of Huawei technology would undermine Hungary’s partnership with the United States. Hungary’s foreign minister brushed off the warning, saying Budapest is fulfilling its obligations to its Western allies. China’s Foreign Ministry welcomed the Hungarian position, calling it independent, impartial and objective.
